Seasonal Strolls and Seafood
One of the nice things about Howth is its ability to look different everyday. You never get tired of the changing skies and water. Perfect for spring strolls, soaking up the summer sun or wrapping up for a bracing autumnal wind and it's also great in winter. Nothing better to clear the fog, than a fresh walk on the pier, unless of course there's an actual sea fog, in which case your walk is even more atmospheric. Howth village is bustling in winter with artisan shops, stalls and places to eat. It's also the ideal place to take a winter walk, getting a bite along the way. At Nicky's Plaice we serve up food to go every weekend, all year round. So if you're out for a walk on the West Pier, you can drop in for fresh chowder, seafood snacks or coffee along the way.
Nicky's Chowder at the Pier
From Thursday to Sunday, all year round, we put together fresh seafood chowder, made here in Nicky's, from the freshest fish and seafood you can get. We also do a range of sandwiches made to order using the best in seafood and our own oak-smoked salmon. We have the only open fire smokehouse in Dublin and only our own award winning smoked salmon range is used in our sandwiches to go. You can also choose our prawn sandwich on fresh homemade bread. Even better, you can get our chowder and a sandwich together for only €5.50.
Winter Bites on the Go
We're always trying out new recipes and seafood snacks in our kitchen. Check out our winter specials of breaded scampi and our new fresh cod bites, all made on the spot, to order. From time to time we'll add new menu items, using the fresh catch of the day. We'll always have our main menu items, but you might drop in when we've a new special on the go, too. So, if you're planning a walk along the West Pier in Howth, drop in, pick up some of our fresh fish, smoked salmon or stop off for a coffee or one of our seafood snack offers; always fresh and freshly made.

We're a family run business on the West Pier in the Dublin fishing village of Howth. Opened in 1961 by fisherman Nicky McLoughlin, we've now three generations of the family working together to bring you the best in fresh fish and seafood, the best home smoked salmon and seafood snacks to go at weekends.
